Aging



Aging is simply the process of becoming older. Theres nothing we can do about that. We may all want to remain young and strong but, as the old saying goes, time waits for no one. Its a basic fact of human life.

However, although we cant do anything to make us young again, there are things we can do to look young. It all begins with basic skin care. For many women, looking young is an end unto itself.

By now, we know that the care of our skin depends a great deal on the kind of skin we have, whether its dry, oily, normal or a combination of dry and oily. Given this, there are still some basic skin care tips to remember and follow regardless of what skin type we are. The most effective way to fight aging skin is to have a regular skin care routine. Its actually simple to do and can take only 10 minutes and performed twice, in the morning and in the evening.

The basic skin care routine calls for three things: cleanse, tone and moisturize.

At night, use a cleansing cream to cleanse your face and remove any makeup. Wash with mild soap or a natural cleanser, rinse and dry. To tone, use an acid-containing solution to restore your skins PH balance and protective qualities. Use a mild freshener for dry skin and an astringent preparation for oily skin. Use cool water to moisturize. Blot at the skin to dry it, but dont dry completely.

In the morning, clean your face lightly and freshen up with a few splashes of water. Use freshener or astringent to tone then skin. Moisturize the area around your eyes and, if your face is dry, splash it with water. Blot the water then lightly cover your face with a moisturizer.

Do this regularly and you should have clean, youthful looking skin until your old age.

To enhance your daily skin care routine, you may also apply masks, undergo eye treatment and have a facial massage on a regular basis. Masks and facial scrubs remove any dead skin and dirt from the surface of your face. Using an eye cream or gel every morning or before bedtime is helpful because the skin around our eyes is a lot thinner than on the rest of our face and it is usually where aging becomes apparent.
